Smart, Sustainable Wheat Farming in Gujranwala!
A Farmer Field Day was recently held in Gujranwala under the Fertilize Right Pakistan project, where local farmers came together to learn about the importance of efficient fertilizer use and sustainable practices in wheat farming. The event was led by the Fertilize Right Pakistan – LRRI, National Agricultural Research Center, Islamabad with support from USDA, ICARDA; International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas, CGIAR, the Government of Pakistan, and Concave AGRI as the exclusive commercial partner.
Farmers got hands-on insights into how organic fertilizers like Biozote, along with sulfur-coated urea, can significantly improve soil health in rain-fed wheat systems. Experts encouraged moving away from heavy reliance on chemical fertilizers and shifting towards organic options that build long-term soil fertility, support microbial life, and help retain moisture in the soil. These practices not only improve yields but also reduce environmental stress and input costs over time.
Events like these play a big role in helping farmers adopt smarter, climate-friendly approaches that strengthen both their land and their livelihoods.
